Our Games Ambassadors

Jason Gardener

Sprinter, Olympic Gold Medallist in the mens 4×100 metre relay and World Indoor Champion over 60 metre. Jason, said:

“Being Bath born, I am delighted to support the 2013 National Summer Games being held in the city. Nearly 2,000 inspirational Special Olympics GB athletes will be heading to these Games and I am thrilled to play a small part in supporting this great charity and event.”

Heather Fell

Silver medallist in the Modern Pentathlon at the 2008 Summer Olympics. Heather, said:

“It is great news that Special Olympics GB is heading to the South West for their National Games for the first time. Being a full time athlete in Bath I know how much sport means to this city and the world class facilities at the university will ensure a world class event with a wonderful experience for the athletes, friends and family and all spectators. I am honoured to be involved in the National Summer Games and look forward to following the athletes on their road to Bath.”

Jo Pavey

Four-time Olympian, having represented Great Britain in every Olympics from 2000 to 2012. Jo, commented:

“It is an absolute privilege to be asked to be an ambassador for this Special Olympics GB event. It is very inspiring to see how much the Special Olympics athletes enjoy their sport and how hard the volunteers work to make it all happen. Special Olympics is close to my heart as I believe everyone should have access to enjoy sport. Before I was a full time athlete I used to work full time as a physio and very much enjoyed an intellectual disability placement where we did activities with the clients.”
